Resize Without Stretching or Distorting the Image
Portals reject photos where the face looks stretched or squashed, which happens when an image is forced into new dimensions with a different aspect ratio. The correct workflow is crop first, resize second: crop the image to the target aspect ratio (200:230 for most exam photos), then scale it down to the required pixel dimensions. Common Exam Portal Size Requirements in 2026
Typical current requirements: SSC photos 20 KB to 50 KB at roughly 200 x 230 px with 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm print size; signatures 10 KB to 20 KB at 140 x 60 px; UPSC photos and signatures each 20 KB to 300 KB; NEET photos 10 KB to 200 KB postcard and passport sizes; GATE photos 5 KB to 1 MB at minimum 480 x 640 px. These numbers change with each notification cycle, so treat your exam's official notification PDF as the final authority and use these as orientation. Does resizing reduce image quality?
Downscaling (making images smaller) keeps images sharp because pixels are merged, not invented. Upscaling beyond the original size can soften details since new pixels must be interpolated. For best results, resize down from the largest original you have.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?

What is the maximum image size supported?
