HEIC to JPG Converter — Free, No Upload

Turn iPhone HEIC photos into universally compatible JPG or PNG — privately, in your browser.

100% in your browser — files never uploaded

Why iPhone photos are HEIC and why JPG is needed

Since iOS 11, iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container), which stores the same quality as JPG at roughly half the file size. The catch: Windows, Android, many websites, government portals and older software either cannot open HEIC or require paid codecs. Converting to JPG makes the photo universally compatible — every device, browser, form upload and printing service made in the last 25 years accepts JPG.

How this converter works without uploading your photos

The conversion runs entirely in your browser using a JavaScript HEIC decoder loaded on demand. Your photo is decoded to raw pixels on your own device and re-encoded as JPG or PNG locally — it is never transmitted to a server. That matters for HEIC files specifically, because iPhone photos commonly contain location metadata and personal content. A progress bar tracks each file in batch mode, and failed files are reported individually without stopping the rest.

JPG or PNG — which output to choose

Choose JPG for photographs: it is the smallest universally supported format, and the quality slider (default 90%) lets you trade size against fidelity. Choose PNG when you need lossless output or plan further editing — files will be larger but pixel-perfect. Free conversion covers up to 3 files per batch; batches up to 20 files with one-click ZIP download are Pro features.

Convert iPhone HEIC Photos to JPG for Exam Portals

iPhones save photos in HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) format by default, but Indian exam portals — SSC, UPSC, IBPS, SBI, NEET, GATE and state recruitment sites — accept only JPG or JPEG uploads. If you photographed your passport photo, signature, thumb impression or declaration on an iPhone, the portal will either reject the file outright or fail silently at upload. This converter turns HEIC into a standard JPG in your browser: the photo never uploads to any server, which matters when the image is your own face or signature. Conversion preserves the full resolution, so you can pass the output straight into our Photo Resizer or Signature Resizer to hit the exact KB limit your portal demands.

Why HEIC Fails on Government and Bank Websites

HEIC is an Apple-favored format with limited support outside the Apple ecosystem. Most Indian government portals run older upload validators that whitelist only .jpg, .jpeg and sometimes .png extensions, and their preview systems cannot render HEIC at all. Renaming the file extension from .heic to .jpg does NOT work — the underlying data is still HEIC and document verification systems will flag it as corrupted. Genuine format conversion re-encodes the pixels into JPEG, which is what this tool does. You can also switch your iPhone to shoot JPG directly: Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible.

HEIC to JPG Without Losing Quality

JPEG is a lossy format, so some quality trade-off is inherent, but at high quality settings the difference is invisible for exam documents and printed photos. This tool converts at high quality by default, and because everything runs client-side there is no file size cap from a server, no queue, and no watermark. Convert multiple photos one after another, then compress each to its target KB range with the Image Compressor if your portal enforces a size limit — most exam portals cap photos between 20 KB and 50 KB and signatures between 10 KB and 20 KB.

Frequently asked questions

Why won't my HEIC photo open on Windows?

Windows needs the paid HEVC Video Extensions codec to open HEIC files natively. Converting the photo to JPG removes the requirement entirely — JPG opens everywhere with no extra software.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

Slightly, since JPG is a lossy format — but at the default 90% quality the difference is invisible for normal viewing and printing. Choose PNG output if you need a mathematically lossless copy.

Are my photos uploaded during conversion?

No. The decoder runs in your browser and photos never leave your device. This is the safest way to convert personal iPhone photos, which often contain GPS location data.

Can I convert multiple HEIC files at once?

Yes — up to 3 files free in one batch with the same settings. Pro unlocks batches of up to 20 files and a single ZIP download of all results.

How do I stop my iPhone from taking HEIC photos?

Go to Settings → Camera → Formats and choose 'Most Compatible'. The iPhone will then shoot JPG directly, at the cost of roughly double the storage per photo.

iPhone photo ko JPG kaise banaye?

Drop the HEIC file in and download the JPG — the decoder runs in your browser, so the photo never leaves your device.

HEIC file exam portal par upload kyun nahi ho rahi?

Indian exam portals whitelist only .jpg and .jpeg uploads and cannot read HEIC at all. Convert it here first, then compress the result to the KB limit your portal demands.
